Fashionista?
Posted by Vina on January 8th, 2009 filed in consumerismLike most gals, I like shopping. Funny thing though – I didn’t used to like it at all. I feel like since moving to DC, I’ve become a lot more fashion conscious. I feel like you have to be, especially with all the happy hours, receptions, mixers and hill events. People, ok mainly women, always look really polished. Unfortunately for my pocketbook, others will count clothing among the other things people judge you for (who you work for, your title, where your office is located, etc). Gotta play the game to make it in the city.
I’ve been fairly good at not going too crazy spending though. Luckily, I have a really good fashion mentor. Today I learned that ponte is a heavier, stretchy fabric – like jersey but with more drape.
Because I am bored and don’t feel like writing anything meaningful, here is a blog full of recent acquisitions.
?? – Guess Tweed Dress, Price Unknown
?? – Coach Wristlet, Gift from my fashion friend
$50 – Nine West new winter boots!
$60 – Mango Textured Babydoll (Just discovered Mango – love their fabrics, designs and prices!)
$60 – BCBGirls Cherrywood Patent Crocs
$30 – Anne Klein Snakeskin Patent Peeptoe
$80 – Victoria Secret’s Candy Apple Red Suit Set – very cute!
$110 – My ball gown for the Inaugural Ball. My first ball!
$70 – Messenger Bag and Laptop Case Set from Etsy. I had a lot of fun picking the fabrics and deciding the pockets, straps, etc. And I am the ONLY one in the world who owns this.
$30 – From Filene’s, for those times I need a more professional laptop bag
So a lot of patent, red, animal skin textures and tweed! (I have some tweed pants and another tweed work dress I couldn’t find pictures of.) I’ve been trying some new colors and fabrics too – diversify the teeny weensy closet of mine.
